Transition / Treatments for Transsexualism
Choosing your Medical Team (Organise Referrals)
This
is an important step in the process, this process allows
you to explain your situation to your Doctor, now you most
probably would need to go to a Doctor that deals with Gender
Dysphoria /Transsexual
people, so they will quickly handle your problem and provide
you with the various referrals you will need.
These referrals are;
Psychiatrist - This medical professional should be
able to diagnose after an interview wether you are suffering
from a physiological or purely psychological condition.
Because people with mental conditions have stated they
suffered Transsexualism, this has muddied the waters and
made it a harder process to obtain the chemicals and
surgeries to correct your body.

Section for more information.
Endocrinologist - When you see an endocrinologist, it
is normally after you have seen a psychiatrists who will
then have given the go ahead for some sort of Hormone
Replacement Therapy, initially starting with Androgen
blockers. Depending on the Endocrinologist, they will give
you a physical inspection and if your health is suitable,
you can start a hormone therapy regimen.

Section for more information.
Speech Pathologist - This person is one of the most
important people in helping you succeed in your new life.
There is no magic pill or surgery that can give you a female
sounding voice, it comes from relearning how to speak, but
compensating for the damage the testosterone did at puberty.

Female Voice Section for more information.
Electrologist / or Hair Reduction Clinic - This is
one of the most expensive parts of your transition. That is
to remove or reduce all that hair that grew in the wrong
spots. Various technologies are available with different
success rates depending on skin/hair colour combinations.
>> Check the Hair
Reduction Section for more information.
Hair Transplant Surgeon - For those who became
folically challenged due to postponing transition until mid
life, well now there is a solution, the only issue is cost
$$. Hair follicles can be transplanted from either the
back of the head or in fact almost anywhere on the body and
these hair follicles will grow normally once transplanted.
The procedure depending on the transplant surgeon can be a
simple invasive procedure done under a local anaesthetic,
though the cheaper choice using strip method is more
invasive as a strip of scalp is cut from the back of the
head and the follicles are stripped manually before being
singularly reinserted into the new location.

Urologist Surgeon - For those who want to speed up
their transition, or who cannot afford the cost of SRS at
this stage, then Orchiectomy (removal of the Testes) if
performed right is a great solution.
In Australia this operation if approved by your Psychiatrist
can be done for free on Medicare. The only cost is for the
follow up consultation to check/remove stitches.
SRS Surgeon - This is the person who you want to do a
lot of research on, as you only have once chance at getting
it right.
There are two main types of this type of surgery and they
